Our Horse Heroes

Clyde

Clyde

When I was a baby my fate was uncertain. I was underweight, hungry, and in need of a home. When my owner saw my picture on the internet she knew I needed rescuing ASAP. From 2000 miles away it was love at first sight! Now I help people overcome difficulties with encouragement and inspiration to keep on keeping on. I must be good at what I do because people call me “Clyde, the Never-Give-Up Horse.” I am proud to represent Equine Reflections and Carousal Farms as their mascot.

Danny Boy

Danny Boy

I collapsed at a kill pen and was trampled on by frantic horses. I suffered permanent blindness in one eye as well as cuts and bruises on top of old scars. I thought I had breathed my last breath when I heard the sweetest sound, “I’ll take him. His scars are beautiful!” I was named after a popular Irish ballad since my adoption took place on St. Patrick’s Day. In my first week at Carousal Farms, I met a girl who had become nonverbal from being bullied for so long. Seeing her pain, I nuzzled her

Gumbo

Gumbo

I am an 8-year-old pinto gelding who learned how to trust again. Patiently, my rescue owner helped me rediscover my many talents. My self-worth soared when I heard the therapist say, “After eight months of trying other methods, Gumbo was able to teach my client calmness in just two sessions.”

Spirit

Spirit

I am a 6 year old appaloosa, which refers to both my color and breed. I was born at a happy place, but something happened to one of my owners and I was moved from sale to sale. In the process, I lost my name and was given a number. My handlers treated me inhumanly and called me “bad and dangerous,” which I am not. Thankfully, someone recognized the goodness in me and now I am safe. Bonny says I have a courageous “spirit” that helps others heal.

Dreamer

Dreamer

I am a 6 year old paint gelding. I went from being abused and neglected to becoming adored and appreciated. Since I know what it is like to feel unwanted and unloved, I connect well with people who have experienced abandonment and loss of trust. Some say my special healing power is the way I help people discover how to “dream” again. One of my clients was heard saying, “He made me realize that my life now has hope and promise.”

Chance

Chance

I am a 7 year old palomino half-draft. Before I came to Carousal Farms I was beaten and abused over and over again. As a result, I became untouchable and afraid of humans. When Bonny saw me, she noticed the softness in my eyes. She knew I had a heart for helping. I have been helping hearts and minds heal for over a year now. I am grateful for my second “chance” at life and the opportunity to make a difference.
