Danny Boy

Danny Boy was rescued from a sale on St. Patrick's Day. So weak from neglect and mistreatment, he collapsed in the trailer. The other frightened horses didn't realize they were stepping on him as he lay there in pain, covered in scars.

But Danny Boy never gave up. He held on, hoping someone would see the gentle, loving horse hidden beneath his wounds.

During his first week at Equine Reflections, he met a young girl who had been silenced by bullying. Afraid to speak, she quietly walked into his stall. Danny Boy gently rested his chin on her shoulder and then pulled her close into his chest.

As she hugged him, she turned to her mother and spoke her first words since the bullying began: "Mommy, he loves me." Sometimes the most broken hearts become the greatest healers.
